“If we don't place at Nationals, the university's going to pull the plug on us.” Now, hmmm, that sentence from last night's series premiere of The CW's newest “drama,” Hellcats, sounds strikingly similar to the main plot of another show that I'm fairly certain I watch on a regular basis, but I can't for the [...] "Om vi inte plats på Medborgare, det universitetet kommer att dra ur kontakten på oss." Earlier this year, after having read George Mann's ultraviolent and dazzlingly pulpy slice of superhero steampunk noir, Ghosts of Manhattan, set in an alternate version of Manhattan in the Roaring Twenties, I was extremely eager to go back and read his first novel, The Affinity Bridge, which I finally had the opportunity to do this week.
